About Code Enforcement

The Salinas Code Enforcement Division is dedicated to protecting public health and safety by ensuring compliance with local and state regulations. We address unsafe structures, substandard housing, zoning violations, unauthorized property uses, and other Health and Safety Code concerns.  By enforcing the California Building Standards Code, the Salinas Municipal Code, and the International Property Maintenance Code, we help maintain safe, and vibrant neighborhoods. Compliance through education and outreach remain central to our mission, as does fostering strong community partnerships

Through proactive enforcement and ongoing community engagement, we work to prevent blight, deter crime, and uphold neighborhood standards that protect the health, safety, and quality of life for all residents.
