Fire Prevention Week Open Houses Join us for Fire Prevention Week 2025 from October 5–11, as we focus on this year’s theme: “Charge Into Fire Safety – Lithium-Ion Batteries.” With more devices using rechargeable batteries than ever before—like phones, e-bikes, and power tools—it’s important to understand how to use, charge, and store them safely to prevent fires. Local fire stations will be hosting Open House events throughout!
State Fire Marshal's Office Identifies Salinas' Fire Hazard Zones The State Fire Marshal is mandated to classify lands within State Responsibility Areas into Fire Hazard Severity Zones (FHSZ). Fire Hazard Severity Zones fall into one of the following classifications: Moderate, High, Very High. Certain parts of Salinas have been identified as locations of concern. The Salinas Fire Department requests your thoughts on this matter.

Paramedic Accreditation - FF Salinas and FF Nijmeddin FF Salinas and FF Nijmeddin have both successfully passed the 10-call process of their Fire Department paramedic accreditation. Over the past several weeks, our EMS PTCs have evaluated their proficiency in patient assessment and medical treatment. During that time, both have demonstrated their ability to deliver a high level of ALS care that meets the standards of the Salinas Fire Dept.

2025 Fireworks Stand Lottery Applications for the 2025 Fireworks Stand Lottery will be accepted starting February 3, 2025. Electronic applications are available on the Salinas Fire Department’s Fire Prevention webpage, and hard copies can be obtained at the City’s Permit Center, located at 65 West Alisal Street, Salinas, CA 93901. Once again, this year there will be 18 fireworks stands allowed in the City of Salinas.
Fire Station 1 Repairs & Temporary Relocation Fire Station 1 operations have temporarily been relocated to the Community Center facility next to Sherwood Hall to accommodate construction. During the daytime, Medic Engine 1 will be strategically positioned at 106 Lincoln Avenue to ensure response times and continue meeting the community's needs effectively.
SFD Facility Dogs Assist in LA Fire Efforts and Meet Prince Harry Cruz and Taffy, Salinas Fire Department’s facility dogs, are aiding firefighters and communities impacted by the LA fires. Their calming presence provides vital support during this crisis. They also met Prince Harry, who praised their efforts and highlighted the importance of compassion and collaboration in disaster relief.
Eaton Fire-K9 Deployment K9 Cruz and Captain Pimentel joined the Eaton Fire base camp in Pasadena, working alongside Cal Fire behavioral health staff to support first responders' mental health. Together with a peer support team of K9s, handlers, and clinicians, they visited fire stations and the National Guard Armory, providing comfort and resilience to those battling the devastating fires.
