Sustainability (Water, Waste & Energy) Division:

  • Manages and provides technical support of the City's Solid Waste, Organics & Recycling Programs
  • Manages and oversees the City's sustainability goals and programs, including the Urban Green Program, Solar & Forestry
  • Manages and provides technical support for water recycling/reuse projects, including partnering with Pure Water Monterey Project
  • Manages and provides technical support to safely convey the City's Sanitary Sewer & Industrial Infrastructure

Compost Giveaway & Workshops

The City of Salinas is offering local residents the opportunity to grab some compost to use for your gardening needs. Using compost improves the health of your soil by adding nutrients, helping it retain water and preventing run-off. For more information, please contact the Sustainability Division at: (831) 758-7485

New Carts & Dumpsters are Coming

This year, Republic Services will exchange the carts and dumpsters to uniform colors across California. This project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

GREEN for food waste/yard waste
