The Salinas Fire Department is a premier fire department in Monterey County. We are leaders in training and strive to be the best in our profession. This profession has rewards that few others can boast. To be a Salinas Firefighter it takes dedication and hard work.
To achieve the dream of being a firefighter is a marathon not a sprint. There will be many things required of you beyond the minimum qualifications. You must be physically strong, have a mental ability to reason, understand mechanical and cognitive issues, as well as having a drive and desire to serve the residents of Salinas.

We also encourage everyone to visit their local Fire Station and talk with the firefighters. Recent Events
Saturday, August 12th - The Salinas Fire Department in partnership with the Salinas Firefighters Local 1270 hosted a Fire Ops event at Fire Station 3. This event gave the perfect opportunity to our key decision makers and local elected officials to experience what Salinas firefighter go through on a day-to-day basis. The day consisted of climbing 105ft aerial ladders, emergency medical episodes, such as a, simulated cardiac arrest event, structure firefighting tactics, and rescue operations.
Wednesday, September 27th - Salinas Firefighter Recruits training during their 12th week of the academy, Recruits practiced rapid intervention crew training and firefighter survival tactics.
