Project Background/Overview

The 2025 Pavement Improvement Project provides rehabilitation and repair for Year 1 streets identified in the City’s 5-Year Pavement Preservation List. Five bids were received on May 23, 2025, and Granite Construction Company was awarded the project. The project continues the City’s efforts to address deteriorated roadways. Following field inspections, staff identified a combination of treatments including crack treatment, patching and repair, aggregate base repair, and pavement overlay. Rubberized pavement was also incorporated on East and West Laurel Drive. Made from recycled tires, this material improves durability and reduces vehicle noise. An estimated 15,411 California waste tires were were diverted from the waste stream by incorporating rubberized pavement in the 2025 pavement improvements project. This work was partially funded by a $250,000 Rubberized Pavement Grant from the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle).
