Young voices play an important role in shaping the future of our community. As the city looks ahead with the Visión Salinas 2040 plan, youth perspectives help ensure that the needs and ideas of the next generation are part of the conversation. Two representatives from the Youth Council joined young leaders in Salinas this past Saturday at the City’s General Plan Open House to share their perspectives on priorities for the future of our community. They highlighted pedestrian safety, emphasizing the need for better street lighting and additional crosswalks. Addressing youth violence was another key topic, with a focus on proactive community efforts and resources. They also spoke about strengthening community connections by creating welcoming public spaces where residents can gather and feel a sense of belonging.
Youth participation in conversations like this helps build a stronger and more inclusive vision for the future. Their voices and ideas are an important part of shaping the community we all share.
