The City of Salinas has initiated its 2025 Pavement Improvements Project, a significant effort to rehabilitate and repair local roadways. The project will focus on year one streets from the City's 5-Year Pavement Preservation Street List, applying a combination of treatments such as crack treatment, patching, aggregate base repair, and pavement overlay.
The streets included in the project are:
East and West Laurel Drive (from Constitution Boulevard to North Davis Road)
Wiren Street
Sky Place
Bardin Circle
Green Street
Acosta Street
Bardin Way
Cortez Street
Additionally, re-striping work will be performed at the following intersections:
Natividad Road and E. Laurel Drive
Bernal Drive and Natividad Road
E. Alisal Street and Skyway Boulevard
The project will use rubberized pavement on East and West Laurel Drive, a material made from ground-up tires that is durable and reduces vehicle noise .This work is partially supported by a $250,000 Rubberized Pavement Grant from the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle).
The City Council has awarded the project contract to Granite Construction Company. The total estimated project cost is $4,838,830.20. Funding for the project will be sourced from a combination of Measure E, Measure G, Measure X, SB1 Gas Tax, and the CalRecycle Grant. Construction has a target completion date of Winter 2025, weather permitting.
