City Staff Participate in 2026 Point-in-Time Count

On January 29, 2026, City of Salinas staff joined the annual Point-in-Time (PIT) Count, partnering with local teams across the community to support a more accurate snapshot of homelessness in our region. Participants included members of the Community Development Department’s Housing Division, Advanced Planning and Project Implementation, and Code Enforcement divisions.

Captain/Paramedic Nick Thomas Named the 2025 Monterey County

We’re incredibly proud to share that our very own Capt/Paramedic Nick Thomas has been named the 2025 Monterey County Firefighter of the Year by the Monterey County Fire Chiefs Association! Since 1982, the Association has presented awards to individuals who have distinguished themselves among their peers and truly gone above and beyond the call. Thomas doesn’t just meet that standard - he lives it!
